Expecting and New Mom's

I read in one of the many books that was passed on to me when L was born something that I will never forget. Please hear this if you hear nothing else. Your new baby with DS (or any special need for that matter) is just that, your new baby. You should love it and care for it just like you would any other baby. He or she is a gift and is to be treasured. Enjoy your baby. Don't get too caught up in what is wrong or what the future holds. That can all be very overwhelming. Enjoy your baby. They are only tiny babies for a short time. It passes very quickly. Don't ignore early intervention and all the good things that will help your baby develop, but first and foremost always remember that your baby is a baby first, above all else.

Congratulations!
